One of our founding ideals is to help East African people sustain themselves with the bounty that is in the region.  To that end we have been working with our associates in East Africa – Fredrick Oucho, George Ajwang.

Fredrick, who is our Project Coordinator for East Africa, has been especially key during the recent farming activities so vital to our mission.   It is harvest time in Kitale, Kenya.  The ability to harvest is dependent on the whether the rains have subsided or not, since the mud of a wet field would hinder the activity.  I was recently told that the rains had stopped coming down on our field sometime around the 8th of October and had not returned, allowing the land to dry sufficiently for the harvest to begin – and what a Harvest it is going to be!

Our estimates are somewhere around 700 bags of shelled maize at 90 kg each (200 lbs)!  This will allow us to feed the children currently under George Ajwang’s care in Bondo, Kenya, and expand our vision to the creation of hothouses in the drier areas near Bondo (Kisumu).  The hothouses will allow us to grow vegetables and can be used as a teaching tool for the people in the area.

We’ll keep you posted on our progress as the harvest is complete.  Thanks to all who have been a part of this project so far – the Lord Bless you!
